UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Liat Margolis, director of the Master of Landscape Architecture program and assistant dean of research at the University of Toronto’s John H. Daniels Faculty of Architecture, Landscape, and Design, will speak about interdisciplinary design at 6 p.m on March 27 as part of the Stuckeman School’s Lecture and Exhibit Series. The lecture will be held in the Stuckeman Family Building Jury Space.
Margolis’s research focuses on “the knowledge transfer of multi-performance materials and technologies across disciplines,” and she is most interested in understanding (and articulating) the emerging relevance of performative landscapes as urban infrastructure.”
In her recent research and teachings, Margolis has primarily focused on water and wastewater infrastructure in arid climates and investigating the intersection between the natural and fabricated as ecology and technological invention, all within a unique socio-political context.
She is the co-author of the book "Living Systems: Innovative Materials and Technologies for Landscape Architecture," published by Birkhauser in 2007, for which she received a Graham Foundation Grant.
Margolis is also the director of the Daniels Faculty's Green Roof Innovation Testing Laboratory (gritlab).
