WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – College-minded students, overwhelmed by piles of possibilities as they consider which career path to follow, can sort through the clutter of options during a revealing visit to Pennsylvania College of Technology’s Spring Open House.
From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 6, members of the Penn College community will welcome potential students and their families, sharing their unique experiences from an institution that has helped tomorrow makers find their niche for more than a century.
“Open House is the perfect opportunity to visit campus, whether you are just starting the college search process or you’re enrolling this fall and want to check out the labs one last time,” said Jen M. Cullin-Hetrick, coordinator of admissions events/communications. “With the campus wide open and no set agenda to follow, you can truly make the day yours.”
Guests can interact with robots, visit a working sawmill, construct a three-dimensional home, experience virtual reality, emulate the life-saving skills of a paramedic, immerse themselves in the “innovation lab” and other inspiring instructional spaces, and sample curricular areas from concrete science and baking to industrial design and craft beer-making.
In addition to exploring the college’s six academic schools, the day’s visitors can stroll the beautiful grounds and get an informal (yet informative) glimpse into campus life: NCAA Division III athletics, Greek organizations and other student groups, among them.
Administrators, faculty, students and alumni will answer questions and guide guests; dining facilities and The College Store will be open throughout the event; and office staff will share their valuable insight into all aspects of the admissions process.
Visitors can also tour The Dr. Welch Workshop: A Makerspace at Penn College, home to a wide variety of applied-technology activities.
Free shuttles will circulate throughout main campus, and transportation is provided to nearby campuses where additional majors await discovery: the Schneebeli Earth Science Center near Allenwood and the Lumley Aviation Center in Montoursville.

Open House attendees can build their schedules with relative ease, choosing among such general topics as Financial Aid and Residence Life before focusing on must-see curricular areas.
Those unable to attend next month’s event can schedule a campus tour or plan to visit for Fall Open House, scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 27.
