UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — An event geared toward communications, marketing and graphic design students, which will provide hands-on experience and an opportunity to network with industry professionals, has been set for March 24 on the University Park campus.

The Penn State AD/PR Club, housed in the Donald P. Bellisario College of Communications, has partnered with Penn State Prime, a marketing organization housed in the Smeal College of Business, to put together the first “ADPRime Advertising Pitch Event.”

"I am thrilled to have established a partnership with another club on campus that shares mutual interests and goals within their organization,” said Karly Kneidinger, president of the AD/PR Club. “We are excited to kick off this event for students by providing them a unique experience to build their skills, collaborate with one another, and network and learn from experienced industry professionals.”

The free event is sponsored by Mars Wrigley Confectionery, known for brands like M&Ms, Snickers, Orbit, Extra and Skittles. Mars Wrigley Confectionery also will serve as the client for the event.

Students will spend the day solving a client challenge with the goal of delivering creative results. They also will have the opportunity to network with marketing and advertising professionals from Mars Wrigley Confectionery.

“The excitement and support we’ve received from faculty, alumni and students is overwhelming, and we can’t wait to see this event, and Prime and AD/PR Club’s partnership, grow,” said Kate McGrath, president of Prime. “We can’t wait to see and share the strategy and creative output that participants bring to life for a real client.”

The free event, which is open to all students, will kick off at 9:30 a.m. with a “Coffee and Client” session. The client’s brand team will then present a prompt. Following that, students will split into teams, brainstorm and pitch to the client. The day will conclude with winners being announced and a dinner and networking event from 6:20 to 8 p.m.
