UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State students Jason Nolf, a wrestler and kinesiology major, and Emily Ogle, a soccer player and kinesiology major, have been selected as the 2019 recipients of the Ernest B. McCoy Memorial Award.
The McCoy Award is presented annually to one senior student-athlete who has combined successful athletic participation with academic excellence. The award is named for the longtime dean of Penn State’s College of Physical Education, who also served as the University’s athletic director.
Jason Nolf
Nolf became Penn State's third three-time NCAA Champion and ends his wresting season with a 31-0 record with 15 falls, five techs and six majors. Nolf, who wrested at 157 pounds, ends his Lion career with a 117-3 record, including 60 pins.
Nolf is a four-time All-American and has been in the NCAA finals in each of his four seasons and has won the past three NCAA titles, including an impressive title in 2018 after returning from an early-season injury.
His career NCAA tourney record is 19-1, the lone loss in the national finals his freshman year.
Nolf’s accolades off the mat include four-time Academic All-Big Ten, three-time Big Ten Distinguished Scholar and three-time Academic All-American. His cumulative GPA is 3.72.
Emily Ogle
On the soccer field, Ogle earned All-Big Ten First Team in 2017 and 2018, Big Ten Midfielder of the Year in 2018 and Big Ten-All Tournament Team in 2017. She was selected as United Soccer Coaches Second Team All American in 2018.
Ogle started all 25 games in the Nittany Lion midfield, recording 17 points on six goals and five assists. She finished her collegiate career 22nd in points (61), tied for 22nd in goals (20), tied for 16th in assists (21) and tied for the program lead in penalty kicks made (9).
Ogle joined the U.S. U-23 Women’s National Team at the La Manga Tournament in 2017 and joined four other Nittany Lions in 2016 on the U.S. U-20 Women’s National Team training camps.
Off the field, Ogle earned a 3.99 cumulative GPA. She earned Academic All-Big Ten each year and was a three-time Big Ten Distinguished Scholar. She was selected United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-America First Team in 2018. She earned Athletic Director’s Leadership Institute three seasons.
