Changes to the 2019-20 RIDEpass program announced

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — RIDEpass is a reduced-fare, mass transit program coordinated by Transportation Services available for Penn State faculty, staff, and graduate students on CATA bus routes.

Transportation Services continues to support RIDEpass by covering approximately 70 percent of the program costs. CATA deferred any rate increases for two years despite added maintenance and administration expenses.

Due to rising operating costs, a monthly fee increase is coming for 2019-20, effective July 1. RIDEpass permits will cost $21 per month, up from the current $15. CATA currently offers mass transit passes for $79 per month.

Also changing for the upcoming year are permit expiration dates. Current RIDEpass permits expire June 30 and 2019-20 passes will expire on May 31, 2020.
