— Azaria Cunningham, a doctoral student in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction and a Holmes Scholar, a program under the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education (AACTE), was elected vice president of the National Holmes Council during the recent AACTE conference.
— Karen Eppley, associate professor of education (curriculum and instruction), has been appointed to the Whippoorwill Award Committee. The committee is charged with selecting the recipient of the Whippoorwill Award, an annual award that recognizes young adult literature that portrays the complexity of rural living by dispelling stereotypes and demonstrating the diversity among rural people. The committee is composed of eight members who will serve three-year terms.
— "Charter school cap efforts gain momentum," an article by Matthew Gardner Kelly, assistant professor of education (educational leadership), was published on The Conversation. The article also was republished in multiple other outlets, including the Houston Chronicle and San Francisco Chronicle, among others.
— David McNaughton, professor of education (special education), and colleagues published "Building capacity in AAC: A person-centred approach to supporting participation by people with complex communication needs," in Augmentative and Alternative Communication.
— Kai A. Schafft, associate professor of education (educational leadership) and rural sociology, was quoted in "Challenged by college cost and access, students in rural Pa. find tech-based alternative," part of NPR's Keystone Crossroads on March 11.
— Mary Catherine Scheeler, associate professor of education (special education), was quoted by Education Week in the article, "With Bug-in-Ear Coaching, Teachers Get Feedback on the Fly."
