New bicycle registration site now available

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State Transportation Services is partnering with Bike Index to offer a new and improved bicycle registration platform for the Penn State and Centre Region community.

Created by cyclists for cyclists, the new Bike Index registration site offers the following features:

  • More intuitive user interface and ease of renewals;
  • Ability to upload pictures, unique identifiers, and additional bike information; and
  • Improved access for police departments when lost bikes are recovered.

Bike registration remains available at no charge, with permits mailed to each registrant’s local or campus address.

Current bike permits (P20) are valid through May 30, 2020, and information related to active registrations has been transferred to the new Bike Index database.

In accordance with Centre Region ordinance and University policy, all bicycles used on campus and within all Centre Region municipalities must be registered and display a current Centre Region registration sticker. Bicycle registration assists law enforcement recover lost and stolen bikes and helps local and campus officials plan bike-related infrastructure and facilities.
