UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Predicted snowfall has caused Penn State to cancel all activities at its University Park campus, including classes and exams, from 5 a.m. Feb. 20 until 5 a.m. Feb. 21.
Unless previously identified as performing essential services, or unless otherwise advised by their supervisor:
- Employees whose work hours are scheduled to begin and end between 5 a.m. Feb. 20 and 5 a.m. Feb. 21 should not report.
- Employees scheduled to begin work before 5 a.m. Feb. 21 and end after 5 a.m. Feb. 21 should report at that time to complete a partial shift.
- Employees scheduled to report at or after 5 a.m. Feb. 21 should report as regularly scheduled.
According to the latest forecasts, a winter storm will move into the Centre Region at or about 7 a.m. today, bringing heavy snowfall early before transitioning to sleet and freezing rain through the afternoon and into the evening. The decision to cancel all activities was determined to be in the best safety interest of faculty, staff and students, particularly those who must travel a distance.
All activities, including classes and exams, scheduled to take place after 5 a.m. Feb. 21 will be held as planned. Beginning at 5 a.m. Feb. 21, employees are expected to report at their next regularly scheduled reporting time.
