ALTOONA, Pa. — "Hamilton" actor Bryan Terrell Clark will present "From Baltimore to Broadway" at 7 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 18, in the Wolf Kuhn Theatre of the Misciagna Family Center for Performing Arts at Penn State Altoona.
An actor and singer-songwriter, Clark is known best for his starring role as George Washington in "Hamilton: An American Musical" on Broadway. He has also starred as the iconic Marvin Gaye in "Motown: The Musical" and performed in Broadway’s acclaimed "Fences."
Clark’s presentation, "From Baltimore to Broadway," features stories from his life as well as performances of songs from "Hamilton" and some original material.
Free tickets for the event are available now, one per person, to all Penn State Altoona students, faculty and staff. Remaining tickets will be available to the public beginning Feb. 11. Tickets can be picked up at the Box Office of the Misciagna Family Center for Performing Arts and the Center for Student and Civic Engagement, 126 Slep Student Center.
Clark’s additional theatre credits include the Mark Taper Forum’s production of "Immediate Family," directed by Phylicia Rashad; the Alliance Theatre’s "Sophisticated Ladies"; and "His Girl Friday" at the Guthrie Theater. Among his numerous television appearances are "NCSI: New Orleans," "Blue Bloods," "Person of Interest," "Unforgettable," "CSI NY: Empire," "Royal Pains," and Tyler Perry’s "House of Payne." He recently completed filming Ava DuVernay’s "Central Park Five," which will debut on Netflix this year. In addition, Clark appeared in the 2016 film "Collateral Beauty."
Clark is the writer and producer of Jussie Smollet’s first single, “Freedom,” and he is also a co-writer on Mary J. Blige’s “Irreversible” on the album "My Life II." Clark has performed with such artists as Brandy, Monica, Ne-Yo, Gladys Knight, Patti LaBelle and Ciara. He is currently in the studio recording his solo album. He is the host of "Bryan Terrell Clark’s Tribute," which has featured Stevie Wonder, Ledisi, Lalah Hathaway, Rahsaan Patterson and Kenny Lattimore.
Clark also is the co-founder of inDEFINED, an initiative launched in 2017 that inspires and teaches young people to use their voices to erase constrictive labels in our society. The online apparel brand raises money for various charities and philanthropic organizations and supports arts education for at-risk youth.
Clark graduated from the Yale School of Drama and Temple University. He is a native of Baltimore, Maryland, and currently lives in New York City.
