Mechanical engineering professor named Highly Cited Researcher

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Donghai Wang, professor of mechanical engineering at Penn State, has been named a Highly Cited Researcher by Clarivate Analytics (formerly Thomson Reuters) for 2018.

The Clarivate Analytics Highly Cited Researchers list is an elite group of authors with leading peer-reviewed papers. Researchers given this honor were in the top 1 percent of citations for their field of study and publication year in the last decade.

“I am delighted to see the work of my group at Penn State had been recognized worldwide by researchers in the last decade,” Wang said. “This recognition reflects the talent and hard work of graduate students and postdoctoral researchers from my group.”

His research in the Energy Nanostructure Laboratory (E-Nano) focuses on developing nanomaterials for clean energy technologies, such as batteries, solar cells, fuel cells, and environmental remediation.

Wang said he was pleased to know that researchers spanning many subjects are building upon his work.

“I believe the interdisciplinary and collaborative research across fields is important to generate original work, gain deep understanding and promote new energy technology development,” said Wang.

Wang, who joined Penn State as a faculty member in 2009, has published more than 100 journal articles during his career.
