Penn State Air Force ROTC to conduct active shooter training exercise on Feb. 5

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State Air Force ROTC will conduct an active shooter training exercise at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 5, in the vicinity of Wagner and Shields buildings at University Park. There will be no other training activity outside of this area.

There will be no real or prop weapons involved, only the announcement, “Exercise, exercise, this is an active shooter drill,” followed by completion of the exercise. Actors and evaluators taking part in the drill will be identifiable by their safety belts.

Due to the sensitivity surrounding recent events, all personnel will be on the lookout for anyone showing emotional distress as a result of the exercise.

The training will be closed to the news media due to the nature of the exercise.
