UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — With its faculty showcase, on exhibit Feb. 4-28, the Center for Pedagogy in Arts and Design (C-PAD) will share the research of the inaugural year of faculty Innovators in Residence. The projects of the researchers include designing teaching and learning, performing and exhibiting, and implementing pedagogical practices in both formal and informal settings.
The researchers will utilize the Borland Project Space (BPS) to present in-progress work and to commune with partners from across the University. Throughout the showcase, resident work — ranging from video and audio to photography and other didactic materials — will be on view.
C-PAD is a cross-disciplinary center whose goal is to advance arts and design pedagogies, research and professional development applicable to learning and teaching in all disciplines. It serves as a nexus for scholars, artists, designers, practitioners and community members who share a common interest in learning and teaching through the arts. C-PAD is a partnership between the College of Arts and Architecture and Teaching and Learning with Technology at Penn State.
C-PAD supports its mission through a program for faculty Innovators in Residence, Discovery Grants for research, and an annual Teaching Award to reward excellence in pedagogy.
Closing reception
In addition, from 4 to 5 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 21, a closing reception will be held where attendees can interact with residents about their displayed projects. Light refreshments will be served. This event is free and open to the public.
About the Borland Project Space
The Borland Project Space seeks to showcase vivacious research culture of Penn State's College of Arts and Architecture. With this notion it moves beyond traditional exhibitions, performances and scholarly programming to expose the processes and procedures of “arts research,” which viewers seldom see. Home to several residences and projects throughout the academic year, the space is open for visitors from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, throughout the academic year.
