UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — A training exercise for police and emergency responders will be held at Beaver Stadium from Jan. 29 to Feb. 1. Although emergency vehicles will be visible and on site, the exercise will be contained to the stadium and there should be no overall impact to the University Park campus.

Organized by the Pennsylvania Army National Guard Civil Support Team and hosted by Penn State University Police and Public Safety, the purpose of the exercise is for the Civil Support Team and law enforcement bomb squads from throughout Pennsylvania, including the Hazardous Devices Team with Penn State University Police and Public Safety, to train together in preparation for a potential incident.

The Civil Support Team has a mission to assist first responders with the early detection and mitigation of weapons with the potential to cause widespread harm.

The training will be closed to the news media due to the nature of the exercise.
