Jason Nolf named Big Ten Wrestler of the Week

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Penn State Nittany Lion wrestler Jason Nolf has been named the Big Ten Wrestler of the Week for the week ending Jan. 13.  Nolf earns Penn State's third weekly honor of the 2018-19 season.

Nolf reached a personal milestone in Penn State's Big Ten opener, winning his 100th career match by thoroughly dominating No. 3 Ryan Deakin of Northwestern in Penn State's 33-8 road win on Jan. 11. Nolf was relentless in the bout, picking up eight takedowns and forcing Deakin into three stall warnings in a 19-7 major over the third-ranked Wildcat. Deakin's only points were escapes. Two days later, Nolf made it 101 with a 25-10 tech fall over Wisconsin's Devin Bahr as the Lions won their 51st straight dual with a 24-13 win over the Badgers.

Nolf remains unbeaten on the year with a 15-0 record. All 15 wins have been for bonus (nine pins, two techs and four majors). Nolf totaled 19 takedowns in his two matches (eight vs. Deakin and 11 vs. Bahr) and was not taken down once in Penn State's opening Big Ten weekend. Nolf is now 101-3 for his career. He is Penn State's all-time pins leader with 54 falls as well.
