UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — For Penn State faculty and staff members who are interested in learning more about Campus Recreation memberships, a faculty and staff open house will be held from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 4, at the IM Building.

All Penn State employees are invited to attend the open house, where they can tour the facilities, try out the equipment, and register for a membership. Access is free all day, and the equipment can be tested and used to help employees determine if they want to register for a membership.

In addition, Campus Recreation, a unit of Penn State Student Affairs, is now offering payroll deduction as a method of payment for faculty and staff memberships. By registering for the payroll deduction, an annual Campus Recreation membership can be purchased for $19 a month.

The payroll deduction function, which is only available for faculty and staff, gives members an easy and automated option for payment. To set up the payroll deduction, Penn State employees can visit the main sales desk at the front of the IM Building during business hours.

In addition to faculty and staff memberships, Campus Recreation offers memberships for spouses/partners, Penn State retirees, and Alumni Association members.

A Campus Recreation membership grants access to the IM Building, White Building, Natatorium, and Hepper Fitness Center for all informal recreational activities. Access to weight training areas, cardio spaces, the indoor track at the IM Building, the pools at the Natatorium and White Building, basketball courts, racquetball courts, premiere bouldering wall, squash courts, table tennis, and more than 100 drop-in fitness classes is included with the membership. Members also can check out most equipment for use in those spaces at no additional charge.

Lockers are available to rent for storage for a small charge per semester.

Membership pricing for faculty, staff, retirees and spouses/partners is as follows:

  • $230 – Annual (valid for one year from date of purchase)
  • $95 – Per semester
  • $50 – One month (valid for 30 days from the date of purchase)

For more information, or to purchase a membership online, visit the Campus Recreation membership page.

New faculty and staff members should note that it may take seven to 10 business days from their start date before their information populates into the Campus Recreation membership system, which is necessary in order to log in and purchase a membership.
