AUSTIN, Texas - Kerry Abello and Emily Ogle have been named to the 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-America Second Team, as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Thursday, Dec. 6. This is the first honor for Abello and the second plaudit for Ogle (2017). With Thursday's announcement, Penn State ranks fourth among Division I institutions with 203 Academic All-America selections.

In the classroom, Abello boasts a 4.00 GPA as a biology major, while Ogle carries a 3.99 GPA as a kinesiology major.

Abello, a sophomore midfielder, finished the season tied for the team lead in points with 19 on seven goals and five assists. In 2018, she received All-Big Ten Third Team honors, United Soccer Coaches All-North Region Third Team plaudits and named Academic All-Big Ten. Behind Abello's first career two-goal outing on Oct. 21, the Nittany Lions won the 2018 Big Ten regular season title outright with a 2-0 win over Minnesota.

Ogle, a redshirt senior midfielder, started all 25 matches in 2018 and finished the year with 17 points on six goals and five assists. With her appearance at Florida State on Nov. 23, Ogle became the eighth Nittany Lion to play in 100 career games. In her four seasons playing for Penn State, she received three All-Region First Team honors (2015, 2017 and 2018) and one All-Region Third Team plaudit (2014).

Along with her All-North Region First Team and All-America Second Team nods in 2018, Ogle was named to the All-Big Ten First Team, Academic All-Big Ten, and was tabbed the Big Ten Midfielder of the Year.

In program history, 10 Nittany Lions have received CoSIDA Academic All-America plaudits on 16 occasions.
