Men’s basketball

  • La Roche College 78, Penn State Altoona 56
  • Penn State Altoona 112, Pitt-Bradford 84

Junior center Cameron Gardner-Nicholson (Philadelphia, PA/Boys’ Latin Charter) scored a career-high 23 points, grabbed 13 rebounds, and tied his career-high for shot blocks with six in his team’s 112-84 win over Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opponent Pitt-Bradford on Wednesday, Dec. 5.

Men’s swimming

  • 1st Place in the SUNY Delhi Fall Invitational (344 points)

Sophomore Andrew Lesnett (Middletown, NY/Minisink Valley) was named the AMCC Men’s Swimmer of the Week for his performance in the SUNY Delhi Fall Invitational on Saturday, Dec. 3. Lesnett posted four first place finishes to help Penn State Altoona win the event. He recorded individual wins in the 200 Yard Freestyle (1:52.72) and the 100 Yard Freestyle (51.29), and he combined with his teammates to place first in the 200 Yard Medley Relay (1:49.37) and the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay (1:37.49).

Women’s bowling

  • 12th Place in the Wilmington University Wildcat DII-DIII Invitational

Senior Nicole Watt (Altoona, PA/Bishop Guilfoyle) had a strong weekend for the Lady Lions in the three-day Wilmington Invitational on Nov. 30-Dec. 2, posting a team-high 16.76 baker average while also averaging 151.0 in traditional matches.

Women’s swimming

  • 3rd Place in the SUNY Delhi Fall Invitational (167 points)

Junior Emily Beam (Tyrone, PA/Tyrone) and sophomore Danielle Bye (Hockessin, DE/Cab Calloway School of the Arts) each had three total first places in the Lady Lions’ third place finish at the SUNY Delhi Fall Invitational on Saturday, Dec. 3. Beam won the 100 Yard Butterfly (1:11.49), and Bye took first in the 200 Yard IM (2:27.35). Beam and Bye also came together to help their team win the 200 Yard Medley Relay (2:12.03) and the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay (1:57.79).

Sophomore forward Alexis Cannistraci (Tyrone, PA/Tyrone) had a team-high 23 points and 13 rebounds while adding five assists and four steals in Penn State Altoona’s loss to Pitt-Bradford on Wednesday, Dec. 5.
