Business Architecture Guild names Smeal’s Cameron a special academic adviser

December 05, 2018

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Business Architecture Guild has announced the appointment of Brian Cameron, associate dean for professional graduate programs at the Smeal College of Business, as a special academic adviser.

Cameron will advise the guild, an international, not-for-profit, member-based association that provides valuable resources to business architecture practitioners and others interested in the field, on its academic program strategy.

As business architecture continues to expand across business communities, the need to incorporate the discipline into MBA and other academic programs has grown in priority. In his new role, Cameron will offer the guild insights into how best to disseminate business architecture across academic environments.

“I’m excited to be working with the Business Architecture Guild and believe that many synergies will evolve over time that will benefit the profession,” Cameron said.

Smeal has announced a new online Graduate Certificate in Business Architecture in conjunction with Penn State World Campus. Individuals earning the graduate certificate will be better equipped to help organizations execute business strategy and align tactical resources and initiatives with strategic objectives. Certificate holders become a critical strategic resource, helping deliver enhanced effectiveness and improved competitive position.

“The Penn State online Graduate Certificate in Business Architecture is designed to be a launch point to three online master’s programs — the Enterprise Architecture and Business Transformation Master’s Program, the Online MBA Program, and the Corporate Innovation and Entrepreneurship Program,” Cameron said.

“This structure provides students with many options depending on their career objectives," he added. "Students may apply the credits earned in the graduate certificate toward any of these master’s programs.”

As a key aspect of the relationship, the guild will provide resources to support the graduate certificate program and conversely gain insights into how to foster recognition of business architecture within the academic community.

“Expanding business architecture’s footprint into academia is the next logical step in the evolution of the discipline,” said William Ulrich, guild president and co-founder.

Additional information on the graduate certificate can be found at https://www.worldcampus.psu.edu/degrees-and-certificates/business-architecture-certificate/overview.

The first course in the graduate certificate begins in January 2019.
