Six Nittany Lions earn All-Mideast Region honors

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- The Penn State Nittany field hockey team collected six Longstreth/NFHCA All-Mideast Region honorees with the announcement of the teams by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA).  Head coach Char Morett-Curtiss' squad had five first team selections and one second team selection.

Five seniors were selected to the first team; Gini Bramley, midfielder; Cori Conley, defender; Aurelia Meijer, midfielder; Moira Putsch, forward; and Jenny Rizzo, goalkeeper. Another senior was named to the second team, Katie Dembrowski, midfielder.

Bramley had 17 points off five goals and seven assists this season, including two game winning goals.  She leaves Penn State with 78 career points and eight game winners, having played in 79 contests (starting 78).  This is her second NFHCA All-Region award.

Conley, a defender scored a goal and an assist in her career, including one game winner.  Conley had two defensive saves this season and earned Big Ten Defender of the Week honors as well.  This is Conley's second NFHCA All-Region award.

Meijer had 20 points off six goals and eight assists this season with one game winner.  She ends her Penn State career with 92 points off 30 goals and 32 assists with eight game winners.  Meijer also had 184 shots on goal and this is her second NFHCA All-Region honor.

Putsch led Penn State with 30 points off eight goals and 14 assists this year, including one game winner.  She ends her collegiate career with 172 points off 67 goals and 58 assists. Putsch had 16 career game winning goals and fourth NFHCA All-Region award.

Rizzo had a 2.05 goals against average this season, collecting 73 saves with a .730 save percentage, helping secure seven shutouts, three solo.  Rizzo ends her Lion career with a 1.52 goals against average, 352 saves, a .749 percentage and 12 solo shutouts.  This is her second NFHCA All-Region award.

Dembrowski had 11 points off three goals and five assists this season, including one game winner.  She ends her Lion career with 40 points off 15 goals and ten assists, five game winning goals and started all 79 games she played in.  This is Dembrowski's first NFHCA All-Region honor.
