UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Brighten a February morning with a fun and free dance experience offered by the Center for the Performing Arts at Penn State and its partners.
“Shall We Dance?” takes place at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, in Schlow Centre Region Library’s Downsbrough Community Room at 211 S. Allen St. in State College. The instructional participatory event — a collaboration among the center, Schlow, and the Penn State Ballroom Dance Club — is suited for children ages 5–12.
The one-hour event will be presented in anticipation of the performance of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “The King and I” at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 28, in Penn State’s Eisenhower Auditorium. Attendees at the Schlow event will have an opportunity to win a family four-pack of tickets to see the nationally touring Broadway musical.
“We have had some hugely successful events with Schlow and the Penn State Ballroom Dance Club,” said Medora Ebersole, Center for the Performing Arts education and community programs manager. “These partnerships allow us to significantly change both who we reach and the quality of the arts learning experiences we offer.”
Participants do not need dance experience or dance partners. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
