Megan Griffiths, a filmmaker from Seattle, will participate in a question-and-answer session following the screening of her feature film “Sadie,” which tells the story of a teenage girl’s struggle to maintain her father’s place at home while he serves in the military overseas.

“Sadie” stars Melanie Lynskey, John Gallagher Jr., Danielle Brooks and Tony Hale. The film premiered at the 2018 South by Southwest Festival and is Griffiths’ sixth feature film.

Griffiths’ previous works have included: “The Night Stalker”; “Lucky Them”; “The Off Hours”; and "Eden,” which won the Emergent Narrative Director Award, the Audience Award for Narrative Feature, and Special Jury Prize for leading actress Jamie Chung at the South by Southwest Film Festival in 2012.

Griffiths was the recipient of the 2015 Seattle Mayor’s Award for Film and the 2012 Stranger Genius Award for Film, and was named the 2013 City Arts Film Artist of the Year in Seattle.

With experience in both television and film, Griffiths has directed, written and produced with a variety of well-known networks and actors including Toni Collette, Johnny Depp and Lou Diamond Phillips.

The “Sadie” screening and Q&A session with Griffiths are sponsored by the Donald P. Bellisario College of Communications and the Department of Film-Video and Media Studies.
