Global Oscars series to present 'Loveless' on Dec. 4 at Penn State Berks

READING, Pa. — This fall, as part of the Global Studies degree program’s "Global Oscars Comes to Berks," Penn State Berks will present its fourth and final film, “Loveless,” at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4, in Room 5 of the Luerssen Building. The film is free and open to the public.

“Loveless” is 2017 Russian tragedy film, and it was nominated for Best Foreign Language Film at the 90th Academy Awards. Zhenya and Boris are in a loveless relationship, and they are impatient to get through their divorce and embark on their new lives, each with a new partner. Their divorce is filled with resentment and frustrations, and it even leads to the couple threatening to abandon their 12-year-old son, Alexey. During one of their arguments, Alexey disappears. The disappearance of their son temporarily draws Zhenya and Boris back together as they attempt to find him
