Nittany Lions' helmets to sport THON logo for Wisconsin contest on Nov. 10

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State Football is teaming up with the Penn State Dance Marathon for the annual THON Football game this Saturday, Nov. 10, when the Nittany Lions' contest against the Wisconsin Badgers will be — temporarily — changing tradition.

With the initiative taken from Nittany Lion team captains Trace McSorley, Nick Scott and Charlie Shuman, Penn State Football has decided to make a change to the players' iconic uniforms by adding the THON logo to the team’s helmets in support of the fight to conquer childhood cancer.

THON, the largest student-run philanthropy in the world, has raised more than $157 million since 1977 for Four Diamonds to fund essential research for better treatments and cures for childhood cancer. More than one-third of Penn State’s student body volunteers 5,000,000 hours of their time each year to provide emotional and financial support to kids fighting cancer at Penn State Children’s Hospital.

Throughout the game Four Diamonds children will take the field during pregame and halftime, and student fans will show their support for childhood cancer by creating a gold ribbon within the renowned student section. Devon Still and Leah Still will also be honorary captains for the game.
