Center for Global Studies to show 'Honor Diaries' on Nov. 15

Film, post-movie discussion part of International Education Week activities

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Center for Global Studies (CGS) will show the film "Honor Diaries" at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 15, in 113 Carnegie Building on the University Park campus of Penn State. The screening and discussion to follow are free and open to the public.

"Honor Diaries" explores themes of violence against women in honor-based societies, such as killings, forced marriages, and lack of access to education. The film portrays nine women’s rights activists who are working to bring safety and equality to women in both the Muslim and non-Muslim world, and provides a platform for women to address this international human rights disaster.

The film screening is being held in conjunction with International Education Week, which is being is celebrated Nov. 12-16.  Various events will take place on campus throughout the week that promote international study, lectures, study abroad opportunities, films, and other interactive opportunities for individuals to become more globally engaged.  Additional information about International Education Week can be found at https://global.psu.edu/article/international-education-week
