Abington men's soccer repeats as conference regular season champs

ABINGTON, Pa. — The Penn State Abington men's soccer team has claimed the 2018 North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) regular season championship with a 10-0-1 record and will enter the postseason tournament as the No. 1 seed. This is the second-straight regular season title for Abington.

As the top seed, Abington will receive a first-round bye in the six-team tournament, and the defending champions will host the NEAC Men’s Soccer Final Four on Nov. 3 and 4. Lancaster Bible College also will head straight to the NEAC semifinals as the No. 2 seed after finishing the regular season with a 9-2-0 conference record.

Morrisville State and Keuka College each posted an 8-3-0 mark in league play and will serve as NEAC first-round hosts. The Morrisville State Mustangs own the head-to-head tiebreaker and will begin postseason play as the No. 3 seed, while the Keuka Wolves will be the No. 4 seed.

SUNY Cobleskill and Penn College also ended the regular season slate with identical 6-4-1 NEAC records, but the Fighting Tigers have a win over the Wildcats to claim the No. 5 seed. Penn College grabs the last spot in the tournament as the No. 6 seed.

NEAC first Round games will be held Tuesday, Oct. 30, with the higher seed serving as the host institution.

Game 1: No. 5 SUNY Cobleskill at No. 4 Keuka College – 2 p.m.

Game 2: No. 6 Penn College at No. 3 Morrisville State – 2 p.m.

The semifinals will feature host institution Abington against the winner of Game 1 and Lancaster Bible against the winner of Game 2 on Nov. 3 at 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m., respectively. The NEAC championship game is set for 1 p.m. Nov. 4, with the winner receiving an automatic berth into the 2018 NCAA Division III men’s soccer tournament.
