UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – In honor of the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) Professional Women in Building Week, the Penn State NAHB Student Chapter, Penn State Solar Decathlon Team and USGBC Central PA Student Chapter at Penn State will be hosting a moderated panel discussion of women in the residential construction industry.
The event will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 29, in the Jury Space on the first floor of the Stuckeman Family Building. Hear first-hand from women in the building industry about their experiences and advice for future professional engineers, project managers and architects.
Discussion panelists include Anna Childe, architect for Weber Murphy Fox; Sasha DiVirgilio, construction manager for State College Design & Construction; TrucAnh Elliott, structural engineer for Gannett Fleming; and Krysta Munden, project engineer for Reese Engineering. After the discussion panel, there will be a question-and-answer session followed by informal networking.
Student moderators for the evening are Carly Asadi, fourth-year architectural engineering student in the structures option and Solar Decathlon team manager; Emily Bogert, fifth-year architectural engineering student in the mechanical option with residential construction minor, USGBC Student Chapter president, and Solar Decathlon team member; Lauren Lesniakowski, fifth-year architectural engineering student in the structures option with residential construction minor and NAHB Student Chapter president; and Alex Vinitski, third-year civil engineering student and Solar Decathlon team manager.

The PHRC serves the home building industry and the residents of Pennsylvania by improving the quality and affordability of housing. The Hamer Center for Community Design encourages building community through building knowledge. It fulfills its mission through engagement in three inter-related activities: teaching, research, and service.
