Parker named Big Ten Freshman of the Week

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State women's volleyball freshman Jonni Parker was named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week for her performances in the Nittany Lions wins over No. 17 Purdue and No. 5 Nebraska. 

On the week, Parker was second on the team in kills at 2.89 per set, while adding 1.67 digs per set, 0.78 blocks, and dishing out three aces. She also finished second in points scored on the week with 32.5.

Against Purdue, Parker led all hitters with a career-high 18 kills on a .271 clip. She added eight digs, three blocks, three service aces, and two assists on the evening. Against Nebraska, Parker added eight kills and seven digs, and chipped in four blocks.

Parker earned her second Big Ten Freshman of the Week honor, and now the Nittany Lions are now up to five weekly honors on the season. Serena Gray (10/1) and Kaitlyn Hord (9/10) join Parker in the Freshman of the Week category, while Kendall White has earned one Defensive Player of the Week honor (10/1).
