UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State female veteran faculty, staff and alumni are invited to attend the third annual Student Veterans Luncheon to honor student veterans as part of the University’s ongoing military appreciation efforts recognizing the service and sacrifice of service members, veterans and military families.

The lunch will take place from noon to 2 p.m. Oct. 30 in Robb Hall in the Hintz Family Alumni Center at University Park. All Penn State student veterans are invited to the lunch, and female faculty, staff and alumni veterans who would like to attend are asked to RSVP by Oct. 23.

The luncheon is organized in conjunction with the University’s Military Appreciation Week celebrating the 100-year anniversary of women officially serving in the U.S. armed forces. Each year, Penn State focuses on a select subset of the military to recognize during the lunch. Last year’s event honored local Vietnam veterans.

Along with a ceremony celebrating local female veterans, retired Col. Priscilla Hamilton, Penn State alumna and professor emerita of the Uniformed Services University, will deliver a talk to attendees. Hamilton graduated from Penn State in 1978 and was the University’s first female ROTC cadet brigade commander. In 2015, she retired after a 33-year career in the U.S. Army having served as a commander of DENCOM, the Army’s global dental care system, and chief of graduate dental education and dean of the Army Postgraduate Dental School.

Penn State has a longstanding and proud tradition of serving the men and women of the military through education benefits, resources, support and more. Visit the Penn State military appreciation website to learn more about the ways Penn State continues to honor service members, veterans and their families.

The Students Veteran Luncheon is made possible by support from Penn State’s Office of Veterans Programs and local businesses, including Starbucks, Jimmy John's, Chick-fil-A, Insomnia Cookies, Wegmans and more.

For more information and to RSVP, contact Mary Fisk at mmf5251@psu.edu or 814-863-0465 by Oct. 23.
