DUNMORE, Pa. — Each year, Academic Affairs hosts a special reception for new and returning adjunct faculty members.

The Annual Adjunct Meet & Greet provides new and returning adjunct instructors with information on campus services and resources and to help support their success at Penn State Scranton.

It also gives them an opportunity to meet and mingle with other campus staff and faculty in a more relaxed and conversational setting.

Organized by Assistant Chief Academic Officer Michael Evans, also an associate teaching professor of nursing, and Suzanne Morgan, administrative support assistant in Academic Affairs, the event is always very well attended.

This year, attendees included adjuncts and full-time faculty and staff, as well as campus Chancellor Marwan Wafa, Chief Academic Officer H. Durell Johnson, program coordinators, and representatives from the campus bookstore, Learning Center, Instructional Design and Technology, Library, and other areas.

Formal presentations were given by new campus mental health counselor Kathy Stefanelli; Director of Student Services and Engagement Brad Kovaleski; and Head Librarian Jennie Knies.

Stefanelli explained her new role on campus as a counselor and the services she can provide to students. Kovaleski updated the group on updates being made in Student Affairs and the importance of the co-curricular experience, along with making referrals for students of concern to the Care Team and/or Behavior Threat Management Team (BTMT). Knies spoke about the recent updates in the campus library and the services that library staff can provide to faculty.
