Community invited to 'Lunch with Mimi'

Mimi Barash Coppersmith, Penn State alumna, entrepreneur and the first woman elected to serve as chair of the Penn State Board of Trustees, will be the special guest of the campus from noon to 2 p.m. on Nov. 8,  in room 135 on the Penn State Lehigh Valley campus. Barash Coppersmith will be interviewed by Nichola Gutgold, professor of communication arts and sciences at Penn State Lehigh Valley, about her life and new book "Eat First, Cry Later: The Life Lessons of a First-Generation College Graduate, Penn State Alumna and Female CEO.”

“In the late 1950s, Mimi was a rarity in State College. She was a progressive, a business owner and a woman,” said Diane McAloon, director of alumni relations at Penn State Lehigh Valley. “Her book candidly recounts 48 life lessons drawn from her exceptional life. This event will inspire not just Penn Staters, but all community members who attend to celebrate life’s triumphs and tragedies.”

The event is sponsored by the Lehigh Valley Chapter of the Penn State Alumni Association. The cost to attend is $20 and includes light refreshments and a copy of “Eat First, Cry Later.”
