UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The first of two planned webinars in October from the Sokolov-Miller Family Financial and Life Skills Center will explore student loans and how to be a responsible borrower.

Student loans are the means by which a college education is obtainable for many, but proper management, planning and selection are vital for a student’s financial wellness. Webinar attendees will learn about the types of loans, such as the difference between federal and private; the steps students need to take before borrowing; understanding the relationship between future income and current loans; and understanding the debt process.

With next year’s Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) now open, there’s no better time to brush up on student loans. The Oct. 9 webinar through the Sokolov-Miller Center is available to the entire Penn State community through this Zoom link. See the self-study modules for more details.

The next webinar on Oct. 23 will cover identity theft.

Penn State’s Sokolov-Miller Family Financial and Life Skills Center offers services to the entire Penn State community and is part of Penn State Undergraduate Education, the academic administrative unit that provides leadership and coordination for University-wide programs and initiatives in support of undergraduate teaching and learning at Penn State.
