Behrend golfers finish second at Oswego and Bowen invitationals

ERIE, Pa. — The men's golf team at Penn State Erie, The Behrend College, shot a two-day score of 304 to place second at the Oswego Invitational. Noah Kunst, a senior from Kittanning, tied for second overall. A day later, Mark Peters, a junior from Mercer, tied for second at the James M. Bowen Invitational.

The college’s soccer, tennis, volleyball, cross-country and water polo teams also were in action last week. Here are the highlights:

Men’s soccer

Penn State Behrend 4, Pitt-Greensburg 0

The Lions outshot Pitt-Greensburg, 22-3. Dakota Lange, a senior from Apollo, scored first, hitting the net in the seventh minute.

Women’s soccer

Penn State Behrend 2, Pitt-Greensburg 0

Brenna McGuire, a freshman from McDonald, scored off a rebound in the 18th minute. She scored again in the second period.

Men’s cross-country

Seventh (of 23 teams) at the Mike Woods Invitational at SUNY Geneseo

Chris Drozynski, a junior from Stoneboro, led the Lions with a 35th-place finish. He completed the 8K race in 26:58.4.

Women’s cross-country

Eleventh (of 18 teams) at the Mike Woods Invitational at SUNY Geneseo

Riley Crissman, a junior from Bradford, led the Lions with an 11th-place finish. She completed the 6K race in 23:13.1.

Men’s golf

Third (of 10 teams) at the James A. Bowen Invitational at the Lawrence Park Golf Club.

Second (of 11 teams) at the Oswego Invitational

The Lions trimmed 16 strokes off their first-day team score to place second as Oswego. Noah Kunst, a senior from Kittanning, tied for second overall.

Women’s volleyball

Penn State Behrend 3, Medaille 0

Outside hitter Kristin Reiland, a freshman from Fairview, had a match-high 11 kills. Setter Lexi Irwin, a senior from Greensburg, added 24 assists.

Women’s tennis

Penn State Behrend 6, Pitt-Greensburg 3

Jada Donatien, a freshman from Brooklyn, New York, won at No. 1 singles, 1-6, 6-2, 10-4. Kirin Bean, a freshman from Erie, and Hadley Howell, a freshman from Harborcreek, won at No. 2 doubles, 8-5.

Men’s water polo

Iona 19, Penn State Behrend 4

Gannon 20, Penn State Behrend 7

McKendree 23, Penn State Behrend 7

Isaak Hatopp, a junior from Saline, Michigan, and Collin Holmes, a freshman from Lake Forest, California, each scored two goals against Gannon. Hatopp and Andrew Sardaryzadeh, a junior from Murrieta, California, scored twice against McKendree.
