UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — In a continuing effort to provide the best option for Penn State business travel, Transportation Services has reduced the daily rental rates on most classes of Fleet vehicles for the second straight year.
Daily rates for mid-size sedans, Fleet’s most popular vehicle class, have been reduced by 19 percent, while full size-sedans and full-size four wheel drive rates have been cut by 16 percent and 10 percent, respectively. Mid-size hybrid’s daily rates have also been reduced by 16 percent. Overall, daily rental rates across all vehicle types have dropped 7 percent as compared to rates in place during the 2017-18 fiscal year.
In addition to lower rates, all rentals include the cost of fuel, which Penn State purchases tax-free. This equates to significant cost savings for the University as compared to traveling with non-Penn State vehicles, making Penn State Fleet rental vehicles the most cost effective and convenient option for University faculty and staff business travel.
“The reduction of our daily Fleet vehicle rental rates for the second straight year demonstrates our continued commitment to providing the most affordable and convenient option for business travel for the Penn State community,” said Rob DeMayo, director of Transportation Services. “With this most recent reduction, the vast majority of our vehicle rentals are now lower than those offered by non-University providers.”
Penn State Fleet also offers customers evening and weekend vehicle pickup, no-charge on-site parking and Campus Shuttle service to Fleet Operations, E-ZPass transponders, and direct-billed rental rates and toll charges.
“We strive to offer a level of service and value to our customers that is unsurpassed by any national rental provider,” said DeMayo. “We’re pleased to now offer even lower rates without sacrificing the high quality of service customers have come to expect from Penn State Fleet.”
Monthly vehicle rentals from Penn State Fleet offer even greater value to University departments, with rates 30 to 50 percent less than those offered by non-University providers.
