Penn State Human Resources announces 2019 Benefits Open Enrollment

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Benefits Open Enrollment begins Thursday, Nov. 1, and will run through Friday, Nov. 16. During that time, eligible employees will have the opportunity to change or update their benefit elections for 2019.

“We’re pleased to announce that for 2019, the percentages used to determine faculty and staff premium contributions under the PPO and PPO Savings Plans will remain the same as 2018,” said Greg Stoner, senior director of compensation and benefits. “Premiums for dental coverage will be slightly reduced and we’re excited to partner with a new vision insurance provider, EyeMed, with enhanced benefits for employees and their families.”

In order to centralize all the 2019 benefits information to create easy access for employees, HR has built a dedicated Open Enrollment section on their website, as well as within the WorkLion Knowledge Base. On both websites, individuals will find videos, guides and other helpful resources that are available to help explain the benefits options for 2019.

In addition, members of Penn State HR’s Benefits Team will be hosting several in-person and online presentations. This is a great opportunity to learn about the 2019 benefit options and to ask questions. For those who can't attend an in-person meeting, webinars and on-demand presentations will be available. See the full presentation schedule to find a meeting near you.

New for 2019, benefits-eligible employees will complete Open Enrollment in Workday. In mid-October, HR will provide step-by-step guides on their website and within the WorkLion Knowledge Base on how to complete this process. Employees are strongly encouraged to learn how the enrollment process works before they enroll or change their 2019 benefits in Workday.

Benefits and employee premium contributions for Technical Service employees are governed by the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
