Fayette's 47th annual Shakespeare Festival to feature the National Players

Performances will include 'Twelfth Night' and 'Around the World in 80 Days'

LEMONT FURNACE, Pa. — Penn State Fayette, The Eberly Campus, will host the 47th annual Shakespeare Festival on Oct. 22 and 23, featuring public workshops and performances from the National Players.

All events will be held in the Maggie Hardy Magerko Auditorium in the Community Center on campus.

Workshops

  • Monday, Oct. 22, at 11:15 a.m. – “Commanding The Room”
  • Monday, Oct. 22, at 2 p.m. – “From Page to State”

Performances

  • Monday, Oct. 22, at 7 p.m. – 'Twelfth Night' by William Shakespeare
  • Tuesday, Oct. 23, at 11 a.m. – 'Around the World in 80 Days' (adapted from the novel by Jules Verne)

The National Players is “America’s longest-running touring company,” according to its website. Founded in 1949, the National Players ensemble has performed in 41 states, in the White House, and for U.S. military across the world.

The festival is free and open to the community. Reservations are required; call 724-430-4244 to reserve seats. Performances, workshops and displays will be held in the Maggie Hardy Magerko Auditorium in the Community Center on campus. Additional displays will be available in the campus library.
