UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State women's hockey senior Kelsey Crow has been named captain for the upcoming 2018-19 season as announced by head coach Jeff Kampersal.
"Kelsey embodies everything we are looking for in a student-hockey player at Penn State," Kampersal said. "She is smart, kind, tough, empathetic, disciplined, tenacious, trustworthy and sometimes funny. She is our clear leader on the ice, in the weight room, and in the classroom."
"The position is a great honor," Crow said. "I hope I can lead the team effectively and create a winning culture off and on the ice."
Crow becomes the sixth captain in program history after being an alternate captain in both her sophomore and junior seasons.
In 2017-18, Crow was a First Team All-College Hockey America (CHA) performer as a defenseman after posting new career highs with four goals, 11 assists, and 15 points. She also led the Nittany Lions with 61 blocked shots in 35 games. Over 65 games in her career, Crow has posted nine goals and 17 assists.
Crow is also the recipient of multiple academic honors throughout her career. She is a two-time American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) All-American Scholar and a two-time Big Ten Distinguished Scholar. She is also a three-time CHA All-Academic Team member.
