UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State Centre Stage will present the award-winning production "Legally Blonde the Musical," with book by Heather Hach and music and lyrics by Laurence O'Keefe and Nell Benjamin, Oct. 2 to 11 at the Playhouse Theatre.

Action-packed and exploding with memorable songs and dynamic dances, the musical is based on the movie of the same name and follows the transformation of Elle Woods as she tackles stereotypes and scandal in pursuit of her dreams.

Director Christine O'Grady revisits 'Legally Blonde' 11 years after shadowing Jerry Mitchell during the development and opening of the original Broadway production. O'Grady's Broadway credits also include the Tony Award-winning revival of "Hair" and its subsequent national and international tours. Off-Broadway she choreographed the Drama Desk-nominated revival of "Tick, Tick…Boom!," "The Underclassman," "John & Jen," "Iron Curtain," "The Glass Menagerie," "The Boys in the Band," and "Signs of Life." Regionally, her work has been seen at the Mark Taper Forum, TheaterWorks Hartford, Florida Studio Theatre, Berkshire Theatre Festival, Cardinal Stage, Totem Pole Playhouse, Weathervane Playhouse, and Barrington Stage Company.
