UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Student Engagement Network is hosting the second annual Student Engagement Expo in the HUB-Robeson Center at University Park on Wednesday, Oct. 17.

Individual undergraduate students or student groups participating in engagement experiences are encouraged to submit proposals that support the central theme of the event, "Find Your Why. Start Your Journey."

Students from any of Penn State's campuses can get involved in one of two ways: Show the impact of their engagement experience in the form of a poster, or share their engagement experience story as a lightning round presenter.

The poster session will be held in Art Alley from 6 to 7 p.m. During this time, at least one student must be present to discuss their engagement experience with event attendees. Posters of all engagement types (i.e. research findings, service learning trips, capstone projects, etc.) are welcome. Students who participate will be asked and encouraged to showcase their work the following morning at the Student Engagement Summit.

Lightning round presentations will be held in Freeman Auditorium from 7 to 8 p.m. They are designed to be like TED talks — lasting no more than five minutes. Students may present individually or as part of a group and should speak to how their engagement experience has impacted their life and academic career. Selected presenters will be required to put together their own presentation and participate in both an information and practice session.

"Students should attend the Student Engagement Expo to see how enriching these experiences can be, and how they connect with both in-class learning and career pathways," said Michael Zeman, director of the Student Engagement Network. "It's amazing to see students express the value and impact of their engagement opportunities, both as poster presenters and lightning talks. If you're interested in adding engagement to your student journey, this is a night you shouldn't miss."
