Trustees committee approves 2019-20 graduate apartment rates

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Penn State Board of Trustees Committee on Finance, Business and Capital Planning today (Sept. 13) approved the graduate apartment rates for the upcoming 2019-20 academic year.

The proposed rates, which will go to the full board on Sept. 14 for consideration, include no costs increases for three-bedroom apartments, including three-bedroom units with an extra half bath. Three-bedroom apartments will continue to have a monthly lease of $1,430, while units with the additional half bath will lease for $1,445 per month.

One- and two-bedroom units will both see a small increase to their monthly rent to help offset operating and facility maintenance costs. With an operating increase of $10 and a capital assessment increase also of $10, one-bedroom apartments will lease for a total of $1,145 per month and two-bedroom apartments for $1,295 per month in the 2019-20 academic year.

Quad apartments, which accommodate four people who each pay a portion of the total cost, will incur a $5 operating increase and a $10 capital assessment increase per person. Quad apartments will lease for $920 per person in 2019-20 year, a $15 increase over the previous year.

Graduate apartments at Penn State include the White Course Apartments on the west end of campus, which offer both apartments and townhomes for graduate students and their families. Additional information about graduate housing can be found at https://housing.psu.edu/graduate-family-housing.
