Student Conduct seeking faculty and staff volunteers for conduct boards

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Office of Student Conduct, a unit of Penn State Student Affairs, is seeking faculty and staff volunteers for the University Conduct Board (UCB) and Title IX Panel.

By becoming a board member or panelist, faculty and staff are engaging in a valuable service to the University and local community. In addition, volunteers are providing important developmental opportunities for students.

The UCB is comprised of a faculty or staff chairperson and additional faculty, staff and student members. This board hears cases related to University Code of Conduct violations for individuals or organizations.

The Title IX Panel consists of a faculty or staff chairperson and additional faculty and staff panelists, and it hears cases pertaining to alleged Title IX violations, which include all forms of sexual or gender-based misconduct.

Volunteers for either of these groups will be asked to complete a volunteer information form, a full-day training, and additional training exercises and shadow hearings.

Faculty and staff who have served in these roles express their appreciation of the experience, the tremendous amount they learned about the student body, and the ability to contribute to the University outside of their work responsibilities.

To learn more or apply to serve on the UCB and/or Title IX Panel, visit https://studentaffairs.psu.edu/support-safety-conduct/student-conduct/get-involved-student-conduct or contact Meg Brower, assistant director in the Office of Student Conduct, at meh182@psu.edu. Applicants will be provided with more information about training dates and times.
