READING, Pa. — As part of the college’s commitment to community engagement, Penn State Berks students will volunteer in the community, with a variety of nonprofit organizations during the academic year. The following is a list of community service initiatives in September 2018.
Wednesday, Sept. 12, 4:45–8 p.m. — Opportunity House Dinner
Students will prepare and serve dinner at Opportunity House, the Reading emergency shelter.
Tuesday, Sept. 25, 3–6 p.m. — PAL College Days
Students will be taking part in a program with the youth at the Olivet Boys and Girls Club, 325 Walnut Street in Reading. They will facilitate activities to get 11- to 12-year-olds thinking about their futures and the steps they need to take to pursue their dreams.
Sunday, Sept. 30, 1:30–3 p.m. — Country Meadows of Wyomissing
Students will visit the residents of Country Meadows. The visit will include playing games with the residents and assisting with afternoon snacks.
