Women's golf to host free clinic to raise heart health awareness on Sept. 18

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Penn State women's golf team will host a free golf clinic from 4:30 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 18, at the practice area of the Penn State Golf Courses.

The event is open to the public and attendees are encouraged to bring their clubs as the putting green and driving range will be open for use. Everyone who attends will be able to practice their swing and hit range balls for free under the watchful eye of the Nittany Lion varsity athletes.

Pairing with the Penn State kinesiology department, this clinic comes in conjunction with the team's continued fundraising effort, Birdies for the Heart, to help raise heart health awareness. The team partnered with Cedars-Sinai Medical Center last season to raise money for the Barbra Streisand Women's Heart Center, and they continue that partnership going into the 2018-19 season.

Donation forms will be available at the clinic on Tuesday, Sept. 19, or can be found online HERE. Please submit all forms to Head Coach Denise St. Pierre at dxs10@psu.edu.

"We are excited to be part of a movement to bring awareness to women and their heart health," said Head Coach Denise St. Pierre, "Through this clinic, we hope to increase people's knowledge of signs to look for and ways to help prevent heart disease."
