UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Aaron Knochel, assistant professor of art education in the Penn State School of Visual Arts, has received the 2018 Outstanding Higher Education Art Educator Award from the Pennsylvania Art Education Association (PAEA).

The annual award is presented in recognition of an exceptional history of active professional participation within the higher education division at the national and regional levels as well a well-established history of leadership roles; active program development, publication and artistic production; and a highly accomplished teaching record.

Knochel has regularly contributed to PAEA’s annual conference, often presenting with Penn State graduate and undergraduate students in art education, and he is the chair of the organizing committee for the 2019 PAEA conference that will be held in State College.

“Professional organizations at the state and national level are important support systems to nurture professionalization, pedagogy and scholarship for artist-educators,” Knochel said. “I’m honored to be recognized by this collection of my peers.”

Knochel will be honored during the PAEA State Conference in Harrisburg on Oct. 4-7.
