UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — New Bulletin websites are now live for the Graduate School, Dickinson Law, Penn State Law, and the College of Medicine, bringing to a close the recent bulletins upgrade project.
The modernization of the Graduate Bulletin and addition of bulletins for the two law schools and medical school come five months after the successful launch of the Undergraduate Bulletin. The web-based bulletins — built on the CourseLeaf Catalog software — provide an improved interface that also performs better on mobile devices. With the upgraded interface comes improved search and filter functions that let current and prospective students explore academic programs based on interests and clearly view program requirements.
The bulletins act as the comprehensive source for academic information at Penn State and now contain courses along with programs, requirements and policies.
“The intention was to provide an easily accessible place for all students, advisers, faculty, staff and community to find official and dependable information,” said Alan Rieck, associate vice president and associate dean for Undergraduate Education.

Bulletins are updated each spring after graduation. Students will need to continue to reference the bulletin that corresponds to their entrance year. Bulletins are archived online back to the 2007-08 school year and will continue to be archived each spring.
Penn State stopped producing printed bulletins in 2004 and moved exclusively to online publication. However, the previous Bulletin site, which was designed in 2007, was not mobile-friendly and some academic information was housed in disparate locations. The recent upgrade also includes some housekeeping, including the removal of courses no longer taught at Penn State and the addition of up-to-date policy information.
Rieck said the team dedicated to building the new bulletins worked diligently for several months on the project.
“This group has worked with representatives from across the University to ensure that the information is correct and up to date,” he said. “Through these collaborations the project has been wonderfully successful. We are excited to release Graduate, Medical College, Dickinson Law and Penn State Law Bulletins that — along with the Undergraduate Bulletin — cover the excellent programs that Penn State offers to learners at all stages of higher education.”
The Bulletins Steering Committee and Implementation Team is comprised of representatives from the Office of the University Registrar, Undergraduate Education, Office for General Education, Division of Undergraduate Studies, Commonwealth Campuses, Faculty Senate Office, LionPATH Development and Maintenance Office, the Graduate School, Penn State Law, Dickinson Law, and the College of Medicine. The steering committee also had representation from the Administrative Council on Undergraduate Education.
