Abington launches community programming for adults

ABINGTON, Pa. — Penn State Abington is launching Community Connection programs this fall to engage area adults in thought-provoking, timely and transformative learning.

Community Connection is an initiative implemented by Abington Chancellor Damian J. Fernandez. 

“Penn State has thrived in Abington for nearly 70 years. I believe it is important to act as an educational resource within this community that has nurtured us for so long," he said. "Our new Community Connection programming gives us the opportunity to explore current, meaningful topics together with our local residents.”

Each course is comprised of three evening classes scheduled once a month from September through November.

Cyber Safety & Cybersecurity

Wednesdays: Sept. 5, Oct. 3 and Nov. 7 from 6 to 8 p.m.

$50 for all three classes

Learn best practices for safely navigating the Internet and other connected environments. Protect your personal information and technology resources from unauthorized access.

Mindfulness

Fridays: Sept. 7, Oct. 5 and Nov. 2 from 6 to 8 p.m.

$50 for all three classes

Use meditation and other techniques to be fully present and aware, yet calm and centered.

Positive Aging

Wednesdays: Sept. 12, Oct. 12 and Nov. 14 from 6 to 8 p.m.

$50 for all three classes

Explore how we age mentally and physically. Discuss strategies to safeguard physical and emotional well-being as we get older.
