What's happening at Penn State? Here's a look at some of the cultural events taking place at the University this weekend and next week:

Performances

Centre Stage Sneak Preview Celebration — 5:30 to 8 p.m., Aug. 29, Playhouse Theatre, University Park campus. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet the directors, designers and students who will be producing the upcoming shows; catch a snippet of a performance or two; view designs and renderings for the upcoming season; and purchase tickets to the productions.

Events

Blue and White Society Bash — 2 to 5 p.m., Aug. 23, Hintz Family Alumni Center, University Park campus. All University Park students, new and returning, are invited to attend the luau-themed event to enjoy free food from Carvers Deli and Barbecue, games, and live performances by PSUkulele, the Penn State ukulele club.

Lectures

"AIDS, Love, and the Meaning of Life" — 6:30 p.m., Aug. 28, 223A HUB-Robeson Center, University Park campus. Scott Fried, an award-winning international public speaker, HIV/AIDS educator and author, brings his “AIDS, Love, and the Meaning of Life” program to Penn State as a collaboration among AIDS Resource and Penn State’s Gender Equity Center, Presidential Leadership Academy, and LGBTQA Student Resource Center. Free.

Exhibits

"What Big Eyes You Have! Looking at the Wolf in Fairy Tales" — Jan. 16-Aug. 26, Eberly Family Special Collections Library exhibition room, 104 Paterno Library, University Park campus. The exhibit takes a close look at historical depictions of the wolf in well-known and lesser-known fairy tales. Free.

"Home: Contemporary Indigenous Artists Responding" — Feb. 26-Aug. 21, Walter and Dori Goldstein Music and Media Center, Pattee Library, University Park campus. A dozen indigenous artists feature their works in printmaking. Free.
