UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — A new Starbucks store has opened at Pattee Library and Paterno Library at Penn State University Park.

Owned and operated by Penn State Auxiliary and Business Services, the licensed Starbucks store is located on the first floor of the Paterno Library, off Curtin Road. It’s the second full-sized Starbucks on campus, joining the store at the HUB-Robeson Center.

A 40-foot long, “Moby Dick”-themed mural ornaments the newly opened cafe with a clever interpretation of the popular coffee chain’s nod to the Herman Melville classic.

At 2,800 square feet, the new, full-scale store offers plenty of seating as well as a wide selection of food and beverage choices.

“Most Starbucks stores in our region don’t offer a wide selection of food,” says David Gingher, director of Campus Retail Dining. “We have the first one with food similar to what’s available in bigger cities.”

Fresh bistro boxes are delivered daily, and customers can choose from sandwiches, salads and healthy snack items, along with pastries and a wide range of beverages and bottled items.

This location is cashless. Customers can use LionCash+, Meal Plan, Visa, Mastercard, Amex, Discover, or Starbucks gift cards for purchases. More information, including cafe hours, can be found at https://foodservices.psu.edu/starbucks-paterno-library.
