Student Programming Association hosts 8th annual Nittany Block Party Aug. 24

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Penn State Student Programming Association will host the eighth annual Nittany Block Party concert, featuring Joey Bada$$ as the headliner. The event will be held on the HUB-Robeson Center’s lawn, with the HUB-Robeson Center’s Alumni Hall as a rain location, at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 24. SPA is collaborating with Student Orientation and Transition Programs (SOTP) to present Nittany Block Party as a part of Welcome Week.

Nittany Block Party will kick off at 5:30 p.m. with food and festivities, which will last through the duration of the concert. At 6 p.m., nine student performers will open for Joey, including Cinnamane, DJ Dosk and more, and at 8:30 p.m., Joey Bada$$ will begin his performance. SPA and SOTP will also be providing different inflatable activities.

Some other fun activities brought to you by SOTP include a caricature artist, Vamos! Lion Chariots, a strolling magician, inflatable Twister and carnival games. In addition, they will bring a variety of different food options like pizza and popcorn along with others from restaurants in downtown State College, Jimmy Johns and Duck Donuts being some of them.

Other organizations and departments will have their own tables and activities for event goers to enjoy. The Center for Arts and Crafts will have a pottery wheel and Campus and Residential Dining will have sweets along with a prize wheel. The Center for Performing Arts and the State College Borough will also be involved with their own tables.

The performance is free for all students with a valid Penn State University Park Student Photo ID and is funded by the student initiated fee.
