Long named student marshal for College of Health and Human Development

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Colleen Long, daughter of Linda and Timothy Long of Johnstown, Pennsylvania, will be the Health and Human Development college marshal for the summer 2018 commencement ceremony on Aug. 11.

Escorted by faculty marshal Maria Dawson, instructor in health policy and administration, Long is receiving a bachelor’s degree in health policy and administration.

While at Penn State, Long served as member of the American College of Health Care Administrators and was in the College of Health and Human Development Women’s Leadership Initiative class of 2017-18. She was also a volunteer at John Paul II Manor in Cresson, Pennsylvania, and completed an internship at University of North Carolina Medical Center in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. 

She was recipient of an Evan Pugh Senior Scholar Award, which recognizes top academic performance among peers in her senior class.

Long is a 2015 graduate of Central Cambria High School. 

Following graduation, Long plans to work in hospital quality improvement, with long-term goals of pursuing a master of health administration or a juris doctor degree.
