Chemical Engineering Alumni Workshop to be held Sept 23-24

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State Department of Chemical Engineering graduates are invited to attend the Penn State Chemical Engineering Alumni Workshop, to be held Sunday, Sept. 23, and Monday, Sept. 24, at University Park. The workshop is designed to solicit ideas from alumni to help the department identify ways to add value to the Penn State chemical engineering education experience.

Registration for the event is free. To register by the Aug. 30 deadline and view hotel information, please go to: https://bit.ly/2JBvjfy.

“We hope to see a good group of alumni there, as we value our Penn State Chemical Engineering alumni, and we place a lot of importance on their ideas and opinions,” said Phil Savage, head of the Department of Chemical Engineering. “We want to shape the best possible programs for our students, and would love help from the perspectives of our graduates.”

Sienna Helfrich of the Penn State Chemical Engineering Alumni Leadership Team noted that the workshop is not a fundraising event. Instead, it is an opportunity to better connect alumni and provide a venue for their professional experience and insights to inform chemical engineering educational programs.

“Along with gathering and sharing ideas for the department’s future, this event will be a great chance to network and catch up with Penn State friends,” Helfrich said.

A general outline of the workshop's schedule includes:

  • Workshop begins Sept. 23 at noon and concludes Sept. 24 at noon.
  • A tour of the new Chemical Engineering and Biomedical Engineering Building, scheduled to open in 2019.
  • Discussions and break-out sessions in HUB conference rooms.
  • A group dinner at the Nittany Lion Inn.
